Poema (1935)

Poem
lyrics by Eduardo Bianco
music by Mario Melfi

It was a dream of sweet love,
hours of joy and of affection.
It was yesterday’s poem
that I dreamed in golden colors.
Vain chimeras that my heart
will never be able to decipher again.
Our fleeting little nest
was a dream of love,
of adoration!
*

When the flowers of your rosebush
return, to bloom more beautifully
you shall remember my affection
and then you must surely know
my intense affliction…

Of that intoxicating poem,
nothing now remains between you and me.
Through my sad farewell
you shall feel the emotion
of all my pain.

*Italicized verse is not sung in the Canaro version.
Orquesta Francisco Canaro, singer Roberto Maida

Poema

Fue un ensueño de dulce amor,
horas de dicha y de querer.
Fue el poema de ayer,
que yo soñé de dorado color.
Vanas quimeras que el corazón
no logrará descifrar jamás.
¡Nido tan fugaz,
fue un sueño de amor,
de adoración!

Cuando las flores de tu rosal
vuelvan más bellas a florecer,
recordarás mi querer
y has de saber
todo mi intenso mal…

De aquel poema embriagador
ya nada queda entre los dos.
Con mi triste adiós
sentirás la emoción
de mi dolor.

This song has been a favourite of mine since my childhood, not by its original version but by an adapted version by our local songstress of the 1930s far back when I was not even born. So beautiful it remains in my heart forever.
i have been looking for the original version and now here I’ve found it. Thanks for translation too

YouTube just recommended this version, based on my viewing history: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WpAnKVeJpw. Gotta say I love it.
